In the latest LGBT news, the father
of gay athlete Belle Brockhoff has sold off his ticket to the Winter
Olympics in disgust because of a distinct lack of respect for his gay daughter.
Bruce Brockhoff says that his daughter was not given the same training
facilities as the other athletes and that there were other funding discrepancies
that led to this decision. The news was reported by the Sydney Morning Herald.
Belle Brockhoff is one of the many famous gay celebrities competing at
the Olympics. Various gay athletes have already done well at the Sochi
Olympics.
The Sochi Winter Olympics have been
declared off limits for political protests. Those trying to raise slogans or
protest have been dealt with swiftly. Belle Brockhoff has received a large
amount of hate mail but she has taken this in her stride and has not let them bother
her. LGBT people have gained a lot of publicity for their cause from the
events occurring at the Sochi Olympics. Former Italian MP Vladimir Luxuria
tried to raise pro-gay slogans, but was removed quickly. Gay and bi-sexual
athletes like Barbara Jezersek and Ireen Wust have done well at the games,
already proving that sexual orientation has nothing to do with sports
whatsoever.
