LGBT news has off late been a talking point around the world with various social, legal, and religious changes being made in different countries. While gay love has been in existence since the advent of man, the basic LGBT right to same sex marriage has been a source of much debate especially within the Church of England where it was recently decided that priests would not be permitted to bless LGBT people who wanted same-sex unions. The news has come as a great blow to the community at large and has disappointed a number of progressive priests who are open to the idea of treating same-sex couples in exactly the same manner as they would treat and pray for straight couples.
Same sex couples are barred from ordination, and are in many ways, being subjected to a form of racism due to their personal preferences. Thanks to many advocacy campaigns, some members of the church have reacted strongly to this regressive news by calling it heavy-handed and not in line with the previous decision to treat same sex related matters in the spirit of “good disagreement”. The regressive part of the Church however, is less concerned about basic human rights and appears to be more concerned with following its own backward policies.
