Remember the “Matrix Series”? Now we have exciting news about one of the directors of the movie, Lana Wachowski, who had co-written and directed the Matrix Trilogy along with her brother, Andy Wachowski. She was awarded the Human Rights Campaign Visibility Award almost about a year back and while accepting the same, she had delivered one of the most revealing speeches ever made by a Hollywood director.
Her speech had her talking about her inability to adjust to her life as a child and also about the suicide attempts she made while she was in high school. It was a very personal story and she must have braced herself before sharing it in public. We admire the courage and the bravery of this Hollywood director. She is the first ever celebrity to have come out as a famous trans-gender in public and she needs to be praised for that. In her speech, she had also discussed about the isolated lives of LGBT people. Along with remembering how painful her childhood had been, she had also pondered about how she has always wanted to be a filmmaker and how she has reached her dreams while being scared of going ahead with sex change male to female surgery.
