LGBT Big News Today: Senate Leaders Take Steps to Pass LGBT Rights Bill

Senate Leaders Take Steps to Pass LGBT Rights Bill

Here is some latest LGBT news from the senate. It has been known for a while that the Senate has been deliberating with some intensity about the LGBT Bill. This bill can play an important role in advancing LGBT rights in the USA. If passes with success, the bill will demonstrate a degree of political will and will also help to legally enshrine LGBT rights.

Senate Majority Leader, Harry Reid, who chose to wear simple reading glasses during the proceedings, has been playing an important role in trying to get this legislation passed. He has been working with different senate leaders, trying to build support and oversee the passing of this legislation. But there has been some reluctance, reservations and even outright opposition in the house to the passing of this legislation. Speaker John Boehner has been opposed to this. Jeff Merkley, on the other hand has been a key sponsor. Senator Jeff Flake initially supported the legislation but still has some reservations.

Amendments have been made to the legislation and the process of modification and adjustment is expected to continue for a while. This important legislation is definitely moving forward. Harry Reid, with his classic glasses and serious demeanour, made quite an impression with his strong will to push the bill forward.
