According to a new measure to be voted on by the Israeli Knesset, gay rights will be furthered greatly. Adoption tax benefits will allow a tax cut to a gay parent and couple who adopt a child.
The relationship between parent and child will be legally enshrined and will be the same as the relationship between the parent and child in a heterosexual relationship. This will further recognition of same-sex couples in the eyes of the law and government and will be a measure that will help to further the status of gay people as a part of mainstream society.

Gay men can receive tax benefits but some argue that this will lead to them receiving undue advantage. Women who don’t earn enough may not receive the tax break and this would also not be available to widowers or single men. These tax benefits are therefore going to be modified to include certain provisions for extending the benefit to couples as a whole. Certain conservative parties like the Bayit Yehudi are agitating against this bill and resist recognition and extension of rights to gay couples. This tax benefit was originally intended to encourage women to join the workforce.
